Silverado Canyon

Birds, Giant Koi Fish, Desert Tortoise, Oh My!

When the beach is dark and overcast or Mom and I need a change of scenery, we load up and drive 20 minutes north towards Lake Forest to Silverado Canyon. It’s very close but we feel like we’ve taken a mini vacation!

Many birds migrate through this area. We like to go early in the morning when it’s cool so we can catch more birds before it gets too noisy.

The sanctuary is dog-friendly and FREE 🙂  They appreciate donations for sanctuary maintenance, however.

There are some hiking trails on the property. I recommend going before rattle snakes are out in the warm months. So, we November through April but, ask the nice people at Tucker so they can give you the most current info!
