Wow! Dog Friendly RV Glamping is a BLAST! Mom rented an RV from Paso Robles RV Rental who is super dog-friendly AND they did all the work for us! They delivered AND set up our RV so all we had to do was move in our glamping gear and food! Grocery stores are a very short drive away from Montana De Oro but it’s nice to keep the “secluded” feeling if possible. Be sure to get a generator (or 2) – depending on how long you will be camping.
Montana De Oro Campground is a beautiful, dog friendly campground which is tucked in just a few footsteps from the ocean. You can hear, smell and feel the ocean vibe day and night! If you want a relaxed, peaceful stay, Mom highly recommends that you stay in late March before Spring Break sets in and DEFINITELY before school is out for the summer (as it can get very packed) or, another great option is Thanksgiving! We hope to do that one year!
When we stayed the trails on the cliffs did not allow dogs due to nature and cliff preservation concerns but, dog beach is right outside the campground and it’s gorgeous! There are also plenty of other walks, drives or just plain ol’ relaxing at the RV reading and chatting with new Fwiends!
Mom and Scoobs had so much fun hanging around the campfire at night with our new friends, June and Michael who have spend decades camping and RV’ing the Western US. Oh, the stories (and recommendations) they have! We shared food, bbq’d and ate gourmet style around the campfire. YUM! They fell so in love with Scoobs (how can you not), it inspired them to adopt 2 dogs when the got home! We WUV that so much!
Be sure to take extra blankets, layers, vests, coats, hats and gloves and MOST IMPORTANTLY, dog coats and blankies! The weather can vary day to day and it can get super chilly at night without the heater on!
Our BIGGEST recommendation is to go the escape the rat race and relax! “Be” in nature! Catch up on your favorite hobbies…reading, photography, painting, chatting with your loved ones or new friends. Just be sure to take advantage of the beauty surrounding Montana De Oro while you can. Take a little piece of it home with you when you need that “happy place” to zen out on!
