Silverado Canyon

When the beach is dark and overcast or we need a change of scenery, we load up and drive 20 minutes north towards Lake Forest to Silverado Canyon. Although it’s very close, we feel like we’ve taken a mini vacation!

We were regulars at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary which was dog friendly but that changed after it changed owenership – which was a huge disappointment. There are trails surrounding the sanctuary which are dog friendly and many birds migrate through this area. We recommend going early in the morning when it’s cool so you can see (and hear) more birds before it gets too noisy or too hot fur a pup walk. We also prefer November through April before the rattlesnakes come out for summer!
