Dear Fwiend, WOWZA! It’s been BUSY at the furSmiths! Has September been the same fur you?! We finally got settled back in after our amazing Borrego Springs PawCation—and apparently we brought home a whole lot more than desert sand, starry-night memories and WAY too many pictures. 😹 In fact, that very first PawCation with the ENTIRE furSmith family inspired something else that’s pretty special… Our very own Scoobylife theme song! 🎶🐾 And once Mom started thinking about all of Scooby’s—and now our—PawVentures over the years, one common theme kept popping up… 🎶 We Usually Go the Wrong Way Round!Everybawdy who ever PawVentured with Scooby, us and Mom knows… We don’t always take the normal way! 😹 One of the first REALLY Wrong Way Round PawVentures happened when Scooby, Mom and Scooby’s girlfwiend Becky were Day Trippin’ to Bodie Ghost Town.
Most “normal” people apparently don’t go to Bodie by way of Potato Peak. They did. 😂
It was a MUCH longer trek—and everybawdy STILL says it was AMAZING! And not too many PawVenturers get that view! Then there was Beek’s Place in the Cleveland National Forest. What was supposed to be a morning outing somehow turned into an ALL-DAY PawVenture, complete with 4-wheeling, dirt in every crevice of the car (and our fur!), AND getting stuck—until a fellow PawVenturer saw us from around the bend and suggested we air down our tires. Brilliant! Noted fur da future! We bought a portable tire de/inflater as soon as we got home! We can SEE Beek’s Place when we’re driving around town, so we still get a good laugh about that one all the time. 😹 🐾 There’s LOTS more to this PawVenture! So, when our Borrego PawCation inspired us to create a ScoobyLife theme song, “Wrong Way Round” couldn’t have been more perfect. Taking the long way, making a weird turn and finding something amazing along the way… That’s pretty much how we roll! ❤️🐾 Now our crazy PawVentures have their own soundtrack! WooHoo! We updated our Borrego Springs PawCation video to debut “Wrong Way Round”!
WATCH OUR BORREGO SPRINGS PAWVENTURE + HEAR “WRONG WAY ROUND” 🐱 Apparently We Have Traveling Kitties!Another thing Borrego taught us? Lovey and Oliver WUV traveling wif us! So Mom decided they need their own comfy, custom kitty travel carriers—with a litter box in each and, of course, a water bowl to make longer trips more comfortable. True to form, Mom found Rock Creek Kennels to make them! 😹 We cannot wait fur them to be delivered! What kind of longer trips, you may be asking? Wellllll… funny you should ask! 🍂 The Eastern Sierra Is Calling!WE BOOKED OUR FALL PAWCATION! 🏔️🍁🐾 Our normal cabin at Tamarack Lodge was already booked fur Leaf Peepin this year. Now that we’re FREE AGENTS and full time furSmiths, we’ll never have to wait fur Mom’s work vacations again so, we’ll be booking Tamarack WAY in advance! 😹 But maybe it worked out fur a reason, because Mom has been eyeing this amazing area near Lone Pine, with gorgeous views of Mt. Whitney. And guess what? WE’RE IN! When Mom told our host who was coming, he said we sound like “quite a crew!” He has NO idea. 😹 Even better, Lone Pine is about 1½ hours closer than our usual Mammoth destination—probably a good thing fur Lovey and Oliver’s next PawCation! We’re planning a super relaxed week: stargazing, finding some fall foliage, taking pictures, birding, exploring a little and mostly just CHILLING. At least…that’s the plan. Because we hit one little snag. 😬 Mom Took a Different Kind of Wrong Turn…Last week, Mom discovered our water filtration system was leaking in the garage right as she stepped in the water and had a freak fall—or more accurately, a freak FLY! UGH. Thankfully, nothing is broken or in the wrong place! 🙏 Her kneecap and surrounding soft tissue took quite a beating and need some time to heal. So all paws are crossed that Mom keeps getting better and we don’t have to cancel our Mt. Whitney PawCation! And here’s the crazy part… Befur all THAT happened, Mom had already spent most of the day tackling another furSmith travel problem! 🚙 The Scoobymobile Got a PawCation Upgrade!As you may have gathered, Mom is pretty much the queen of: “We have an issue. We need to address it.” 😂 Our other PawCation issue? All our STUFF! Traveling with two dogs, two cats and one Mom requires a LOT of it—and we need the room inside the Scoobymobile fur US! So, after lots of research, Mom came up with a solution: a new tow hitch and swing-out cargo box on our X5! And, being Mom, she even tracked down the company the dealerships use fur their hitch installations, so everything was expertly installed to the exact specifications fur our Scoobymobile! Safety first! WOWZA! Pretty much everything except our food, essentials and electronics can now travel in the cargo box. Which means… MORE ROOM FUR US! 🐶🐶🐱🐱 Between da kitties’ new custom carriers and clearing all that stuff out of the Scoobymobile, we think this could be a real turning point fur our PawCations!
🐦⬛ And Guess Who We Heard About?!AZURI! We got a really hopeful update from the vet about our not-so-little baby crow. She sees no reason why they can’t strengthen Azuri’s right wing enough fur normal flight! ❤️ Next, Azuri will move into an enclosure similar to the one we had here to work on strengthening that wing, followed—if all goes well—by a larger flight enclosure. And THEN… If Azuri’s wing gets strong enough, they’re hoping to bring our crow HOME to the furSmiths fur release! And everybawdy will be here to video it! Can you imagine watching Azuri spread those wings and take flight from the same place where this whole crazy crow story began? ❤️ So please send some WUV, prayers and good thoughts to our not-so-little Azuri. 🐦⬛💕 💛 And Our Kindness Project?Still happening! It’s just been simmering on the slow burner while we get ready fur PawCation—and now while Mom heals. We’ll get back to it when we return. Assuming things around here ever actually slow down. 😹 We Can’t Be the Only Ones… 😹All this talk about our Wrong Way Round PawVentures has us wondering… We can’t possibly be the only ones, right?!
