It’s Summer PawCation time and we’re prepping for our next Dog Friendly Adventure in the Easter Sierra! WooHoo! We’re putting together our Dog Friendly Wish List of places we don’t want to miss. We typically head to the Mammoth Lakes area in the Summer and one place that’s always on our list is June Lake! The June Lake area is actually dubbed the “Switzerland of California”! Sound amazing? Sure does! But, Is June Lake California Dog Friendly?
We are happy to report as with most Eastern Sierra Communities, YES, June Lake California is Dog Friendly! Looking for a gorgeous Dog Friendly Road Trip? Just the drive along U.S. Route 395 is one of the most Scenic Drives you will ever take! Breathtaking Mountain Ranges to the West and gorgeous plains to the East (backed by more Mountain Ranges) invite you to stop just to take in the mesmerizing views. Tranquility vs jagged. Hot vs Cold. Dry vs Snow. The U.S. Route 395 in California has it all simultaneously!
June Lake Loop
We HIGHLY recommend you enter June Lake via the most northern entrance of the June Lake Loop of California State Route 158 nearest to Mono Lake. This northern entrance to June Lake is typically closed in the winter due to snowpack but during our favorite dog friendly months (beginning late May through early October) the northern portion of June Lake Loop puts 3 seasons on display for travelers to enjoy. Thank us later 🙂
June Mountain CA
June Mountain and Rainbow Mountain provide a gorgeous backdrop to the June Lake Community. Both mountains are over 10,000 in elevation while the town sits at an elevation of 7,654 feet. So, allow a day for you and your pup to acclimate! There are PLENTY of places to take it easy and just take in the scenery at June Lake. Just like all the of the areas we love in the Eastern Sierra, June Lake is amongst the prettiest of California Lake Towns.
Things to Do in June Lake
There’s no shortage of amazing things to do on Pawcation in June Lake and the surrounding area! Whether it’s Camping in June Lake, Fishing Silver Lake California, Hiking, Enjoying Nature or simply picking up delish food from the local pizzeria and brews from June Lake Brewing and enjoying your views at home base with your pooch, there’s something for everyone! Heck, go extra FANCY and order a gourmet dinner from Carson Peak Inn or Double Eagle Resort and Spa to go!
Be sure to check out our June Lake page for all of our “Insider” details for what we love the most! Let us know what your FAV places and things are too!
