Call your local City or Chamber of Commerce and ask for Fall Foliage Recommendations in Local Parks, Specially Planted Boulevards and along Country Roads and Highways! In 2013, SmokyMountains.com started their Fall Color Leaf Map USA for Foliage Predictors to help people plan their Leaf Peepin’ in Tennessee. It was so popular they expanded it to include the whole USA! Their Fall Foliage Prediction Map shows the progress of leaf changing and when they should “peak” in each area. Simply slide the tool bar through the dates at the bottom of the map!

Go online and search your favorite city, region, state or any area that interests you and add “Fall Colors” in the search bar to see if anything pops up! Keep in mind that Peak Colors range anywhere from Mid-September through November depending on location.

It’s no secret that our FAVORITE place to Leaf Peep is the Eastern Sierra. The mountains and US Route 395 are gorgeous around late September through the first week of October. You can get up to date Fall Leaf Reports every year for June Lake, Mammoth Lakes, Bishop and the whole Eastern Sierra and from these amazing websites:

In Southern California we Love to visit the old mountain town of Julian in Southern California in October! The BIG Bonus is it’s also Apple Pie Season at the famous Apple Pie shops! Enjoy a slice of pie after your Fall tour and take a pie home!

Although we have not visited, Idyllwild has been on our Fall Foliage Bucket List and it’s also featured in the California Fall Color Map. We can’t wait to check Idyllwild out!
