The Petrified Tufa Formations at Mono Lake make you feel like you’ve just landed on the moon that has a lake on it! Mono Lake has an interesting history and even played a part during the Cold War as a training / testing facility. Mono lake has 3 times the salt as the ocean! It is definitely worth a day / Picnic trip or a Sunset / Snack trip. (I’m always up for a good snackie whenever Mom and I go on day outings)! Mono Lake draws amateur and professional photographers from around the world. Our cabin-neighbors during our Rock Creek Summer vaca said they went for the Sunset and it was amazing. Apparently it can get a little crowded in the Summer for Sunset pics so, go early and claim your spot! Mom found a couple of “photography tips” online that you may want to check out. The photos here are amazing too! Winter and off-season seem pretty relaxed. There were a few people in October but no big crowds. Mom says when we go back this Spring we are definitely doing a Sunset photo session. Hope you enjoy the pics Mom did take in the meantime!
We’ll be back Mono Lake!!!
