Core Commands allow you to lay the foundation (or refresh the foundation) create structure, establish boundaries, build trust all while deepening your connection and bond with your pup! The result…a happier, more engaged and connected relationship (and life) with your pup! Core Commands can even save your Pup’s life in a dangerous situation!
Let’s Start with some Important Pre-Work: Talking to your Pup through your eyes! (Eye Contact).
Before working with commands, let’s begin by practicing eye contact when talking to your pup, feeding them, giving them treats, letting them in and out of the house, on walks…
The Basics: How to Teach Your Dog to Give you Eye Contact:
- Have small delicious treats in your hand and your Pup in front of you in a relaxed environment
- Look at your Pup
- As soon as your Pup looks at your eyes hold the eye contact for a few seconds.
- Say YES and reward your Pup with a treat.
- Repeat and Eventually leave out the treats!
