Scooby Havin a Watermelon Picnic at Dana Point Harbor for July 4

First, Mom wanted me to thank all of our active Military and Veterans for protecting our freedom.

Second, Summer means Watermelon!  I love watermelon.  Who knew? Yum. Yum, Yum…… Nuttin’ says Summer like the 4th of July and Watermelon!

This year July 4 is on a Monday so……it’s like an extra Sunday in my house!  Yippee! Speaking of beach, I love livin’ at the beach.  We get lots of visitors in Dana Point during the summer months but it’s still pretty low-key compared to some of the beach towns around us.  If you are visiting Dana Point with your pup, FYI, no dogs are allowed on the actual sand but, the beach areas at

Doheny State Beach and Salt Creek Beach in particular have grassy areas and eating areas right next to the sand so who cares?  Your people can take turns staying with you if they have a need to get in the water but, it’s just fun hanging out, having a picnic, bbq’ing or eating at the concession stand at either beach.

Oh, there’s water fountains available and bathrooms for your humans at Doheny & Salt Creek too! We like hanging out on the grass in the shade.  Speaking of shade, tell your parents to bring umbrellas or canopies to keep us doggies cool.  This is really a must.  The sun can get really hot.

I’ll share another of my secret areas with my blog friends…… Mom and I also LOVE the Island across the bridge at Dana Point Harbor.  There are covered picnic tables all around with bbq’s and people hanging out relaxing and fishing.  So Pawesome!

But, Mom and I like no-crowds for the most part so during the busy Summer Holiday weekends so we either go out early or head the opposite direction.  This July 4 weekend mom and I headed to Niguel Regional Park. There were no crowds and lots of people fishing, mommy birds babysitting their new children and lots of relaxing!

To our surprise Los Rios District in San Juan Capistrano was open on July 4 so we stopped by MY favorite store, Las Catrinas to pick up another nice blankie for Mom.  They have 2 stores and they both have really pretty things.  Plus, I always get pets there!  Mom also bought a new mexican woven backpack for our easier outings (where I don’t need to have water carried).  We also had lunch at LaRocco’s Pizzeria in San Clemente (we get to eat on the patio).  Mom their cold draft Peroni – it’s smells weirrrrrrrd to me but she loves it.

Mom and I also grilled fish and invited the neighbors over and we chill-axed on our patio.  That was really fun!  We had a GREAT 4th of July.  I hope yours was great too! The cats and I will be watching Fireworks on repeat the rest of the evening – Mom says it drowns out the local fireworks so Lovey doesn’t get scared.  They ARE pretty cool, though.  Be sure to keep all your pets indoors tonight!

XOXO,

Scoobs
