A Pawsome Saturday at Niguel Botanical Preserve!

Scooby Smith enjoying the flower garden at Niguel Botanical Preserve

Spring is peaking through the rain clouds which means…..a great Saturday! Mom and I decided to see what’s bloomin’ from all this year’s rain at Laguna Niguel Botanical Preserve.  We love this place!  Birds singing, a big hawk fly-by and seasonal flowers made for a beautiful  morning stroll!  It’s hard to believe that 18 acres of land dedicated to drought-tolerant plants (and flowers) are right in the middle of So. Orange County!  The website says 34 miles of walking trails.  I’m not sure how that is calculated but, there’s plenty of walking if you are looking for some exercise!  Mom and I have been going here for the last 3 years and there’s plenty of space no matter what time of year.  We never feel like we are “crowded” at all.  There’s plenty places to stop and smell the roses (literally) and rest on shady benches.  There are no water fountains on the trails so make sure you pack some water for your humans and yourself.  There are water fountains down at the YMCA base but, in the Summer it gets hot – even in the mornings, so take some water just in case.  Also, if you’re up for watching a little Futbol (Americans call it Soccer!), you can hang out at at the covered picnic tables and catch a game!

Oh, and just as we were leaving, my Auntie Sandy texted us that they were in San Juan Capistrano and we met them for lunch at one of my fav dog-friendly restaurants (they treat us pups like family), Rancho Capistrano Winery.  Don’t let the fancy front entrance throw you off, just walk right through the front door with you humans to the huge, beautiful patio and you’re there!  Paradise!  This morning was a tad chilly so we all hung out near the huge fireplace and had fish tacos!  It was sooooo fun having brunchnwith Auntie Sandy, Uncle Miguel and cousin Bella 🙂

Wishing you pawsome days….
